Turning Ideas Into Action, One Hustle at a Time
Meet Dave Thomson
Founder of Precious Meta | Author of The Lean Hustle
Dave Thomson is no stranger to the hustle. By day, he’s a seasoned professional in the tech and business world. By night (and on weekends), he’s a passionate side hustler and entrepreneur. With a knack for turning small ideas into big opportunities, Dave founded Precious Meta to empower others to bring their dreams to life, one lean step at a time.
Dave’s journey is anything but traditional. He’s balanced full-time jobs while juggling passion projects, learned from every failure, and celebrated every small win. His story is a testament to what’s possible when you start small, stay curious, and hustle smart.
The Precious Meta Journey
Precious Meta’s journey has been anything but ordinary—a rollercoaster of bright ideas, scrappy experiments, and more pivots than a ballerina on opening night. It’s been a mix of grand ambitions and hilariously modest beginnings, where every venture, no matter how quirky, added another piece to the puzzle. From simplifying complex problems to embracing the joy of solving small, local challenges, it’s been a wild exploration of what entrepreneurship really means.
Along the way, there’s been equal parts learning, laughter, and the occasional facepalm moment, proving that the best business stories are the ones where you don’t take yourself too seriously. Today, Precious Meta is all about helping others navigate this wonderfully messy process—because the journey is half the fun!
Here’s a glimpse into Dave’s entrepreneurial adventures—a mix of successes, lessons, and laughs

The Hub South Shore (No Longer Active)
The Hub South Shore was a vibrant coworking space in the charming town of Mahone Bay, designed to bring freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote workers together in a collaborative environment. As part of the international Hub network, it was a bold experiment to see if this type of business could succeed in rural Nova Scotia, away from the big-city locations where coworking spaces typically thrived.
Located under a cozy pub, it was as much about building connections as it was about getting work done. The Hub served as a testing ground for innovative ideas and a launchpad for many local businesses. While the doors have since closed, its legacy lives on as a place where ideas flourished, networks grew, and a community of creators came together to make things happen.
Tenderithm (No Longer Active)
Tenderithm was an ambitious project aimed at revolutionizing how businesses discovered and applied for procurement opportunities. The idea was simple: create an algorithm-powered platform to match companies with the tenders that fit them best, saving time and cutting through the noise of endless listings. As forward-thinking as it was, Tenderithm faced the challenges of timing and scale.
While the platform ultimately didn’t reach its full potential, it offered invaluable lessons in tech development, the importance of understanding market readiness, and how to gracefully pivot when the stars don’t align. Its story is one of bold ambition and priceless learning.

Curious about the wild, winding, and often hilarious path that brought me here? In The Lean Hustle, you’ll get an inside look at the side hustles that shaped my journey—from a quirky attempt to charge people $1 to press a button, to building a coworking space in a pub, to almost eating my weight in steak as payment for a butcher’s website. Each chapter is sprinkled with personal stories of what worked, what didn’t, and what I learned along the way.
Whether it’s navigating startup contests, trying to keep a virtual assistant business afloat with one assistant who only worked Fridays, or launching a platform for tenders before the tech was ready, you’ll get to know the real me—ADHD, Scottish humor, and all. The book isn’t just about lessons; it’s about embracing the chaos, having a laugh, and finding your own way to side hustle success.
